Scarface

The North Side gang was an Irish mobster gang based in the North Side of Chicago.

History[]

Led by O’Hara, the gang controlled the liquor trade in the north side of Chicago, and were rivals of the predominantly Italian South Side gang. In the 1920s, South Side gangster Tony Camonte began muscling in on the Northsiders rackets. Shooting up one of their speakeasies. In retaliation, they killed one of the Southsider’s men, and threw his body in front of their social club, with a note warning them to stay out of the north side. As payback, O’Hara was killed by camonte’s enforcer Guino Rinaldo at his flower shop.

O’Hara’s protege Tom Gaffney assumed leadership of the gang, and prepared his men for war with the Southsiders. However, Camonte and his men fought back hard, killing several men throughout the city, and massacring 7 of them at a garage on St. Valentines Day. Gaffney went into hiding, and was later tracked down and killed by Camonte at a bowling alley.
